About
I was born in London and studied at Ealing School of Art ( Foundation ) & The Central School of Art & Design ( Dip. AD. Fine Art, painting ) where I developed a passion for printmaking which has continued ever since.
I then moved to Wiltshire & worked as a painter/printmaker when work & family commitments allowed. Eventually I was able to give my full attention to my artistic pursuits working towards exhibitions & Art Trails / Open Studio events, where I gave printmaking demonstrations & workshop opportunities. I also taught regular lino cut courses from an open access studio in Somerset.
My working practice consisted of walking, taking notes & making drawings to use back in the studio, combined with work based on maps & aerial views of the area. My inspiration was the rolling downlands & a great interest in the many pre-historic sites that occur in Wiltshire. I am transferring this way of working to my new home in North Wales & getting out & about with my sketchbook & map! I already have some new prints in production & ideas ready to go!
I am registered on the Helfa Gelf website, https:/www.helfagelf.co.uk & I`m happy to receive visitors to my studio by appointment at any time. I also hope to start up my printmaking workshops in lino cut or drypoint & mono printing. If you need inspiration there is plenty in the beautiful views near the studio!
